Recipe: Touchdown Chili
Bag (2 large)
Touchdown Chili
Chili can be made with ground beef or ground turkey and is delicious topped with shredded cheddar cheese, a dollop of sour cream and Crowd Pleasing Corn Bread.
“For Christmas Eve, we host our extended family for dinner and a gift exchange. It’s tradition to serve chili, with toppings and cornbread. Some years I’ve suggested a dish that’s a bit fancier, but everyone enjoys having chili. By making the dinner ahead of time and letting others bring the cornbread, I’m free to enjoy my family without fussing over dinner.”

 Team Up preparations:
Prepare hamburger and place in bag. Chop onion; can use food processor for faster chopping. Chop bell pepper and celery.

1.    Empty hamburger into a very large bowl. Set out all ingredients into an assembly line, then to bowl add kidney beans, tomato juice, tomato sauce, onion, pepper, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, oregano, sugar, cayenne pepper. Stir until well combined and divide equally into two bags.

2.    Thaw. Put chili in sauce pan and bring to boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat and simmer for 1 to 1 ½ hours. Stir occasionally. Serve into bowls and top with shredded cheddar cheese and sour cream.
Dinnercoach’s notes from the sideline:
Team Up tip: Split this meal in half and freeze twice as many meals, a useful option for a small family. The first time I tried this recipe with a Team was with my MOPS group. We each planned to make two recipes of chili. We combined the ingredients and realized we could get many meals for our families out of the two recipes. So we divided our two recipes into four and each had enough to share a meal with a neighbor or friend.

Original recipe yields: 10 servings or 2 bags of five servings.
