Thank you ladies for your inspiration! I have tried commercial group cooking stores and loved them when we had 2 working parents with incomes. Now that we are down to 2, I quit using them due to costs and knew there must be an affordable way to achieve the same results. The year I got married I decided to freezer cook stew, chili, and a macaroni casserole for the winter while my new hubby went fishing one weekend. I was going to do it alone but after every pot and bowl in the house was full of ingredients in some stage of preperation and I needed more, I called my mom to come help. She brought over some larger pots and bowls as well as a pair of helping hands and together we filled my new (wedding gift) freezer. Thanks Mom!

I'm really trying to get better at freezer cooking. Usually I just a double batch of whatever and froze half. Now our good friends and next door neighbors are expecting they're first child in August so I've taken to spending one day a week doing big batches. Last week I made three dozen meatballs, one dozen single serving size meatloaves and six pounds of spaghetti meat. Next week while my husband is on vacation I plan on doing a chicken day, a quiche day and a pork day.

I am so glad that I found your site. While I don't usually cook with friends (even my roommate runs when i am in the kitchen) I have trouble cooking for just 1 or 2 people so I cook and freeze but am tired of my same collection of recipes. My sister in law was expecting triplets and ended up in the hosp (early on) til the babies were born and still goes back an forth to the nicu daily so whenever I go to visit or when other family members pass thru Lafayette on the way to Lake Charles they stop and pick up whatever I have in the freezer to stock theirs. This way they have meals cooked with love as well as wholesome healthy meals. So thanks for some new ideas.

Thanks for commenting. Consider trying a Teaming Up Party to begin with. Choose 1 or 2 recipes, pick a morning, and invite a few friends. Everyone brings thier own meat and bags or pans. Sharing the cost and making a shopping list is most simple if everyone takes home the same number of meals, two is usually a safe starting point. If your Team likes cooking together then the next party can be hosted by another Team member. Teaming Up Parties are a fun and productive way to spend time with friends.

Connie the site is awesome. Thank you for speaking on freezer cooking at MOPS or I would have never been interested. Now I freezer cook with a friend from MOPS and I go to a large cooknight once a month with almost 30 other ladies. What an absolute blessing it has been for my family! I am usually burnt out on energy by dinner time and to have a meal ready to go is just amazing. Freezer cooking is addicting,and Im never quiting! Thanks Connie for getting me started!

I have been freezer cooking for 5 years. I don't cook with a friend, although i have tried too, it didn't work out on their end. I have taught many people how to cook this way, and all are successful, but i found that those who wanted to work as a team, they were pickey eaters,or had serious diet alterations, or thier kids were picky. just hasn't worked out yet. one day maybe.

I make hummus and freeze it in lunch size portions. When I pack my lunch for work I throw some in along with veggies and I'm on my way to a healthy lunch.
Freezing hummus has worked well and does not separate or lose its creamy consistency. I cook my beans instead of buying canned and keep my cost very low.

I'm totally hooked on freezer cooking! I did a cook day last week with a friend and put 35 meals in the freezer @ $3.04/meal! Most of them were marinades for the grill or things for the slow cooker ... trying not to turn on the oven in the summer heat. Plus, a bbq is always a good idea! It's so nice to just pull something out and now that it will be delicious!!!

Connie, I am browsing on a snow day and finally had time to view the site. It should be fun. i am looking for that Black Bean Salsa Wrap that you gave me. Also, have you ever thought of calculating how many points a meal has for Weight Watcher users like myself. I know the meetings i go to if I said there is this site with the point value calculated, the people would probably use it. They are always looking for friendly sites. Kathy Wright does Weight Watchers and could probably help jenny figure it out. Because I subscribe on line there is a place that one can go and enter your receipe and it will calculate the points per serving. Just a thought that might even make your cookbook more appealing if that were included. Happy snow day, Vickie
